Do the Six Conservatives on the US Supreme Court Know That There Was an Insurrection?
Justice must be pursued and the US Constitution affirmed - FIRST
Has anyone informed the right-wing justices on the US Supreme Court that there actually was an insurrection, failed coup, or attempted overthrow of the duly elected government, whichever nomenclature one prefers for it? It appears that they, and a lot of other people are not aware of what has been happening in the country lately. Someone needs to let them know about the seditionist conspiracy, and that Donald Trump orchestrated and directed the coup attempt from the beginning.
The Colorado Supreme Court has recognized what we all have known for almost three years now. Donald Trump called for and planned for a violent assault on our Capitol on January 6th, 2021. That infamous event was not the consequence of a rally that spun out of control. It was not a rowdy group of sightseers and tourists who got over-excited and acted up. The FBI or CIA did not bus in a group of agents dressed up as Trump cultists to stage a false flag riot. None of that is true and none of that is even remotely possible as an excuse or explanation for the dastardly criminal and evil things that truly did take place both outside of and inside the Capitol complex.
Now, there is speculation that the US Supreme Court may overrule the decree issued by the Colorado Supreme Court. What kind of phenomenally bizarre contortions of logic and law would allow that to be the outcome of a review? Why, indeed, should the US Supreme Court even weigh in on this matter? The case should be remanded back to Colorado and left standing as a valid and inescapably sensible and non-political resolution, backed up by over one-hundred pages of legal analysis.
The more crucial question must be addressed here, however, once again. Are we a nation ruled by laws, or by men? Does the US Constitution still determine how we will proceed, or should that be left up to men and politics?
There is an argument that who should become president must be left up to the voters and that the courts should not prevent someone from being on the ballot. That is a non-starter. January 6th was a day when terrorism came to our Capitol and nearly prevailed, with the likely death of the vice president and any number of top Democrats, and when in fact several people died. Voters are not equipped or competent to decide such legal and constitutional issues. (The current US Supreme Court may not be competent, either, but we are stuck with them, for now.)
The first order of business must be the prosecution of those who have committed crimes and particularly the crime of insurrection and treasonous actions, and especially of the principal instigator whose intentional participation in a conspiracy to overturn an election was the sole cause of the terrorism. Justice should be accomplished by and through the judicial system, and the US Constitution should be reaffirmed first, before anything else, regardless of when the next election is held or who might be able to enlist the help of foreign agents to win it. Politics, demagoguery, and Trump’s whining, be damned. Trump should not be on any ballot in any state and he should never hold any office again. If we cannot trust the Supreme Court to decide correctly, then we will have to change it.
Amen to that. This attempt to destroy the American Enlightenment Project offers the opportunity to rediscover, reinforce and re-enact a foundation principle of the US Republic. That no individual is above the right rule of law. The world is watching.
